Social media has been the buzz around the world to exchange the conversation, the fever of social media has spread to clinical trial as well. I agree that social media like Face book and twitter stand as important source in increasing the awareness about ongoing clinical trials and encourage their participation in the clinical trial. Social media establishes an unbiased platform between the investigator and participants of the clinical trial but, it does not clear the complexity involved in understanding the complexity of the clinical trial.
The effectiveness of the clinical trial conversation can be established only when the online communication is established as the part of wider communication like radio, print, search engine marketing, study specific websites, etc. The conversation can engage potential subjects only when the sponsor site provides powerful and quality information.
Use of the medical jargon should be avoided to the maximum, the complexity of the clinical trial should be explained, give the human face to the study.
